First University College in Sri Lanka obtained ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System certification
University College of Kuliyapitiya one of the leading Tertiary Vocational Educational Training government institute in North Western Province conducting NVQ Level 05 & 06 courses has been established in 2014 under the purview of University of Vocational Technology and Ministry of Skill Development, Vocational Education , Research and Innovation. At present it offers 09 TVEC accredited NVQ Level 05 & 05 courses which are; Automobile Technology, Building Services Technology, Cosmetology, Construction Technology, Drafting Technology, Farm Machinery Technology, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technology, Travel and Tour Management and Quantity Surveying.
Through the 08 years of journey UCK was able to produce more than 200 skilled diplomats in par with the demand of industrial world. The process of training delivery at UCK is conducting under controlled conditions in a well-established quality management system.
Stepping ahead; Mr. Chandika Dedigama the Director/CEO of UCK laid the foundation for developing the Quality Management System (QMS) of UCK in par with international standard for quality management systems: ISO 9001:2015 based on his experience. Even during a hard period such as Covid 19 pandemic UCK was able to successfully develop their QMS under the close supervision and leadership of the Director/CEO and with the immense team work of UCK staff members.
Finally, Sri Lanka Standard Institute granted the ISO 9001:2015 system certification since they were able to satisfy all the requirements of the international standard. With this achievement University College of Kuliyapitiya has become the first University College in Sri Lanka certified by ISO 9001:2015 and will remain a remarkable mile stone in the history of University Colleges in Sri Lanka.
At the same time UCK is planning to obtain the affiliation with an Australian University during the year and preliminary formalities were completed. Obtaining the ISO 9001:2015 system certification will enable them to increase their productivity and exposure to international level further.
At this miles stone, guidance and encourage forwarded by the Snr. Prof. Ranjith Permalal De Silva the Vice Chancellor of University of Vocational Technology through this journey is unforgettable and UCK team coveys the respectful gratitude towards him.

University College of Kuliyapitiya has won the Second place in North Western province as a center for Excellency in TVET sector at the award ceremony held on 05th of April 2021 of National Excellency Award 2021 organized by TVEC.
